As an Exam Developer, you will own the lifecycle of Smartsheet certification exams. You will design, develop and evaluate criterion-referenced and practical certification exams for Smartsheet employees, customers, and partners. To do this, you will collaborate with internal and external Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and internal stakeholders while following industry standards for creating valid, reliable, and defensible exams. You will be responsible for the process from ideation to retirement. Your work will ultimately aid in the recognition of the skills and achievements of our customers and partners who use Smartsheet.

You will report to our Manager of Credentials. This is a remote eligible position and you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is registered.

You Will:



  • Scope and define certification exams and get stakeholder buy-in
  • Conduct JTAs (job task analysis) to ensure exam design validity
  • Lead subject matter experts (SMEs) in exam item design and creation
  • Write and edit exam items
  • Lead reviews using accepted processes (item reviews, Angoff reviews, JTA survey, etc.)
  • Perform industry-standard cut-score analyses and exam item selection
  • Lead exam beta test and evaluate results
  • Managing tasks and contacts for the exam development process
  • Maintain exam and item bank
  • Periodically assess the success of the certification efforts using reports and make recommendations for improvement
  • Review course content for quality alignment to exams


You Have:



  • 4+ years of experience developing technical certification exams including the use of a certification development platform
  • Ability to learn new concepts and software quickly (item banking database, learning management systems, proctoring tools, etc.)
  • Experience writing exam items, such as multiple-choice questions
  • Experience managing a pool of subject matter experts (SMEs)
  • Experience managing projects from start to finish
  • Excellent data organization and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrate a strong interest and passion in the learning industry

Smartsheet provides a competitive range of compensation for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive bonus and RSU stock grant upon accepted offer. California & New York: $86,400 to $129,600 | All other US States: $80,000 to $120,000
