Introduction to the job

The Lean team drives and supports the Wilton Factory organization in becoming operational excellent as a means to realize the WF business goals. The Lean team consists of Lean deployment leads that are trusted business partners for the business managers. Each business partner has a team of Lean change agents, that together drive the Lean deployment roadmap for a specific area (e.g. Optics Fabrication, Assembly and Test or Factory Logistics), guiding them through major change transformations. The deployment leads as well as the change agents report directly to the Lean Manager team.

The Lean Manager reports to the head of operational excellence within the Wilton Factory. The Lean Manager is responsible to secure that all deployment leads have an ambitious Lean deployment roadmap that is aligned with the business managers. The roadmaps amongst others guide teams and leaders with implementing the daily management system, coaches them in developing problem solving techniques and Lean leaders' behavior. As a Lean Manager you will respectfully challenge the status quo and act as a role model for Lean thinking.

Roles and Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of the Lean Manager are developing the Lean and Organizational Excellence capabilities of the organization (training, coaching, challenge on Lean principles and being a catalyst in driving the change) and driving the business performance impact of the Lean program (A3's, 4C's, Breakthrough Initiatives). The position also requires experience in both project and change management skills (i.e. event planning, execution and follow up). The holder of this position also contributes to ASML's System of Mastering Lean by improving the Lean standards used within the WF Lean team and ASML.

In alignment with the Lean deployment leads and business managers you will oversee:

  • Set and agree deployment goals
  • Co-designs the deployment plan
  • Challenge the change curve
  • Define success criteria and roles and responsibilities
  • Challenge progress regularly with your stakeholders
  • Be role model in adapting Lean principles and coach on Lean behavior
  • Support business impact initiatives (A3's, 4C's, Breakthrough Initiatives)

As a Lean manager you will:

  • Support your colleagues pro-actively in the deployment or building each other's expertise
  • Contribute to improvements to the ASML Lean standards
  • Challenge your team members adapting the Lean principles in our own team
  • Set clear objectives and annual targets for your team members
  • Create a personal development and career plan for the individual team members
  • Improve the Lean team's daily operations and participates in strategic steps
  • Be partner towards the business in driving for Lean improvements
  • Support the head of operational excellence and WF staff in driving the Hoshin Kanri process
  • Some travel (up to 10%) both domestically and internationally can be expected

Education and experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in relative field
  • 10+ years of experience in Lean deployment or application
  • 5+ years of experience with people management/leadership for a team of 5 or more people
  • Background in operational / manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Additional relevant experience with continuous improvement methods (problem solving, six sigma) or change/ project management experience is preferred
  • Fundamental knowledge of Lean principles and change management models
  • Experience with managing change on culture and leadership
  • Facilitation, training and coaching
  • Fluent in English

  • Good team player who is committed to the success of LEAN deployment within ASML
  • Be openminded and eager to learn from others

Other Information

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. * 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
