This position is located in Washington, DC The core working hours are 8:30 am - 5:30 pm, M-F

The hourly wage is $21.91 This is a Full Time position

This position requires that the employee must successfully complete criminal history information background check and drug screening and be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance. This position may require use of your personal vehicle to transport persons-served. All Melwood transportation policies must be followed. Liability insurance on your personal vehicle must be in full force and effect while transporting for or on the behalf of Melwood. Melwood will reimburse for mileage pursuant to the Travel policy.

INTRODUCTION

Under the supervision of the Custodial Foreman, performs those cleaning tasks necessary to meet custodial contract specifications and assists in the monitoring of the custodial crews work. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

*1. Sweeps and mops hallways, stairs and offices.

*2. Empties tenants' waste baskets and dispose the trash in prescribed manner.

*3. Dusts horizontal surfaces.

*4. Clean bathrooms.

*5. Waxes and buffs floors with prescribed buffers.

*6. Cleans glass and windows.

*7. Washes walls and other vertical surfaces.

*8. Performs snow removal if required by contract specifications.

*9. Polishes kick panels, door knobs and other designated fixtures.

*10. Strips and waxes floors.

*11. Vacuum rugs.

*12. Mixes cleaning solutions.

*13. Maintains issued equipment.

14. Notifies supervisor when supplies and equipment are needed to perform tasks.

*15. Supervises activities of assigned workers on a temporary basis while performing own work.

*16. Assumes responsibility of crew during the absence of the foreman.

*17. Performs all other duties assigned by Custodial Foreman *Essential Functions SUPERVISION EXERCISED The Vice President of Human Resources supervises the Corporate/International Recruitment Manager, Staff Training Manager, Compensation & Benefits Manager, Human Resources Administrator and Human Resources Administrative Assistant. SUPERVISION RECEIVED The incumbent is supervised by the Custodial Foreman.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

The incumbent must be able to stand or walk 90% of the work time; and sit 10%. He/she must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds and push/pull 50 pounds in order to clean work areas and handle supplies and equipment. He/she must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach.

These requirements are necessary for using ladders and stairs, cleaning low areas, high areas, benches and corners. He/she must be able to communicate with supervisors and co workers; must good vision, with depth perception and ability to distinguish colors for safety reasons.

QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year experience in custodial work required. Some supervisory experience preferred. Prior experience with individuals with differing abilities preferred. Must be able to pass security clearance.
