Job Summary

Linen Technician will have the responsibility of ordering, receiving, delivering, shipping, stocking, and replenishment of linen provided by Materiel Services for use throughout the medical center. Is responsible to inventory and reconcile linen needs in the department and in other designated linen supply locations where assigned. He/she is accountable for reporting linen discrepancies to the team leader, and following up through resolution phase. Linen Technician reports directly to the Linen Senior Lead.

Please note: An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications


  • High School graduation or equivalent; ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions in English.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to be pleasant, professional, courteous, and work cooperatively.
  • Ability to move safely heavy supplies and equipment, up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for an eight-hour shift, if necessary.
  • Able to walk, climb stairs, and sit throughout the shift.
  • One year of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Previous Linen and Inventory Management experience.
  • Computer Skills including basic Microsoft Office suite, and Internet use.
  • Familiarity with Windows 95/98, CE, or a short learning curve for those kinds of applications.
