How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Benefits Coordinator, you will play an essential role in supporting the growing and evolving operational needs of the Employee Benefits function. You will assist teammates with the day-to-day operations of all company benefit programs, such as group health and welfare plans and 401(k) for current, new hires, and terminated staff.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:



  1. Benefit Plan Administration



  • Assist team in the overall administration of company benefit plans, including but not limited to, health plans, life and disability plans, supplemental health plans, all voluntary product offerings, leave requests (including FMLA, DBL, Parental Leaves, and PFL), 401(k) and frozen defined benefit pension plan.
  • Prepare, audit, and ensure payment of all benefit vendor invoices.
  • Support the annual Open Enrollment process, including testing, communications, and education.
  • Assist in the reconciliation of weekly 401(k) payroll and Savings account fundings between our systems, as well as the quarterly 401(k) catch-up contribution calculation.
  • Assist payroll with any benefit-related deduction inquiries.
  • Perform other Benefits/HR ad hoc projects as needed.




  1. Data Integrity and Compliance



  • Review and assist with audit process of the 401(k) and frozen defined benefit pension plans.
  • Support department with compliance reviews, Sarbanes Oxley controls, and internal and external audit requests.
  • Filtering of benefit vendor interface error reports and corrections where necessary




  1. Communication and Employee Support



  • Respond to escalated benefits inquiries from HR managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes, 401(k) contribution amounts, and other general inquiries.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and administration of benefit communication and educational initiatives.
  • Help to bring resolution to benefits matters in a timely manner and ensure all employees feel well supported.
  • Assist in explaining employee benefits by conducting meetings, preparing written and graphic announcements and explanations, and responding to requests.




  1. Continuous Improvement



  • May lead and participate in various benefit projects/administration, including insured health plan renewals, health and welfare appeals, annual enrollment appeals, required data filings and reconciliations.
  • Participate in other projects as assigned that relate to the overall goals of the department and organization.



What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

Required Experience



  • Minimum of 3+ years of related experience, including working knowledge and hands-on experience with employee benefits



Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • CEBS certification a plus
  • High personal integrity with a demonstrated ability to exercise confidentiality and ability to respond effectively and timely to sensitive information.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (V-lookups and pivot tables preferred)
  • Great communication skills and interpersonal skills to be able to develop and maintain relationships.
  • Passionate about creating the best possible employee experience.
  • Prior experience in benefits analyst role in a multi-site, global company
  • Strong understanding of HR benefit concepts, practices, and procedures in a corporate environment
  • Problem-solving abilities and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Continuous improvement mindset, with a proactive approach to identifying and implementing process enhancements.
  • Collaborative mindset, with proven ability to work cross-functionally and as part of team.
  • Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams -advanced proficiency in Excel.



Education & Certifications



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience



Travel & Working Environment



  • Up to 10% travel
  • Office Environment - Hybrid
