Job Summary

Chartwells Higher Education is seeking a self-motivated individual for the role of Purchasing Manager at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. This job will establish clear procedures for purchasing, handling, storing, and preparing food to avoid cross-contamination and allergen control including following strict protocols for cleaning and sanitizing to prevent direct and indirect cross-contamination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain close relationships with food suppliers and ensure a clear understanding of your allergen management requirements.
  • Regularly communicate with suppliers to stay updated on any process changes or ingredient formulations that may impact allergen control.
  • Review new recipes and any new ingredients with suppliers frequently for any changes that may introduce allergen risks.
  • Keep staff informed about any changes in ingredients or practices that may impact allergen management.
  • Promote a culture of allergen awareness within the account.
  • Educate staff about the different allergens, cross-contamination prevention, proper cleaning practices, and the importance of clear communication to prevent inadvertently exposing allergic individuals to allergens.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and establish preventive measures
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient functioning of dining service operations.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Three or more years of operational food service management experience.
  • Prior training in Allergen controls and food safety.
  • Strong leadership abilities with demonstrated experience in supervising and developing staff.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with a dedication to maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Must be experienced with computers.
