Plant or Mine Maintenance

Northshore Mining Company - Cleveland-Cliffs has openings for Plant and Mine Maintenance Technicians. The primary function of this position is to provide mechanical maintenance coverage for the Silver Bay plant and Babbitt Mine Site. This includes responding to production loss breakdown repairs and schedules maintenance activities. These individual must work closely with operations to execute repairs and identify proper work. These individuals work four 10-hour shift per week or 12-hour rotating shifts; however, schedule adjustments may be done as business conditions warrant.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Repair and maintain equipment located in the Processing Plant or Mine Site.

• Identify and repair safety hazards, and assist with incident investigations.

• Use computerized maintenance management system (Ellipse) for work order record keeping and inventory withdrawal.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2-year degree in welding, automotive, heavy equipment maintenance, machining or at least 2 years of directly related full-time work experience is required. 2-year degree in industrial maintenance or millwrightis preferred.

• Good troubleshooting skills and proven mechanical aptitude.

• Excellent attendance record.

• Excellent safety record and genuine concern for safety in the workplace.

• Must be highly motivated, have an exceptional work ethic, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to function well in a self-directed team environment.

• Must achieve a satisfactory score on the Northshore Mining Maintenance Assessment.

• Must be willing to work shift work.

• Must be willing to modify work schedule and assist throughout the plant as needed.

• Must meet the physical requirements of the position

Preferred Qualifications:

• Preference for candidates with industrial experience in pumps, mechanical drives, conveying equipment and millwright skills.

• Advanced welding certification is preferred.

• Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems software is preferred.

• Industrial experience in pumps, mechanical drives, conveying equipment and millwright skills preferred.

• Proficient in three position welding.
