Job Summary Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for administering compensation programs for CareOregon and affiliated organizations at an advanced level toward the achievement of business objectives and to provide a strong competitive position. Primary responsibilities for this senior level position include job evaluation, base pay and incentive pay administration, data analysis, education, and technical leadership to junior positions within the department.
Essential Responsibilities
Job Evaluation and Consulting
- Consult with managers in the creation and revision of position descriptions and job levels, ensuring content is clear and reflective of business needs.
- Evaluate new and revised positions in relation to external and internal comparators; develop tools to help ensure effective placement.
- Classify positions to the organization's job structure with minimal oversight, and appropriately update HR systems.
- Work closely with Talent Acquisition staff, enabling seamless integration between job evaluation and recruitment.
- Administer position management in partnership with Compensation and Finance colleagues.
Pay Analysis and Administration
Calculate pay for new hires, job changes, market reviews, and equity analysis, applying a fair and consistent process.
- Participate in salary surveys and utilize survey data to perform analysis and identify compensation levels, predictions for salary ranges, and relevant trends.
- Serve as an expert resource for overtime pay, premium pay, incentive pay, and employee recognition.
- Administer the organization's spot award program, ensuring awards are granted fairly and effectively.
- Partner with HR and Payroll staff to facilitate and monitor job and pay data integrity.
- Research and ensure compliance with relevant federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
- Protect employee pay data; exercise a high degree of confidentiality and discretion.
- Lead or participate in data auditing, reporting and documentation, including areas such as affirmative action, EEO, pay equity, and compensation studies; serve as an advance resource for audits.
- Assist with executive compensation as needed.

Experience and/or Education Required
- Minimum 5 years' experience performing compensation work, including at least 4 years in a compensation analyst role
Preferred
- Certification or coursework in Compensation and/or Human Resources
- Experience in the health insurance or healthcare industry helpful
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Knowledge
- Advanced knowledge of and ability to apply labor laws and regulations that impact compensation
- Advanced knowledge of compensation principles, practices, standards and methods and processes for collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting data
- Strong understanding of and the ability to apply salary survey and job evaluation methodology
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups
- Ability to learn, focus, understand, and evaluate information and determine appropriate actions
- Ability to accept direction and feedback, as well as tolerate and manage stress
- Ability to see, read, and perform repetitive finger and wrist movement for at least 6 hours/day
- Ability to hear and speak clearly for at least 3 hours/day
