The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

The Ferrera Laboratory within the Zuckerman Institute at Columbia University is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as a Research Staff Assistant. The laboratory discovers the neural basis of decision-making, serial learning and focused ultrasound in the cerebral cortex and basal ganglia.

This is a grant funded role.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:



  • Husbandry, behavioral training, procedure preparation, scheduling, and assistance, data collection (behavior, neurophysiology, MR imaging), record keeping, and general lab organization including but not limited to ordering of supplies and cleaning of laboratory equipment.
  • Additional duties assigned by the PI.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Neuroscience, Psychology, or a related field required.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are essential. Basic knowledge of neurophysiology, neuropharmacology, and neuroanatomy. Math, statistics, and computer skills.
  • Laboratory and animal husbandry experience is preferred but not required. The Research Staff Assistant will be trained by the Principal Investigator.
