The Waymo Driver powers Waymo One, a fully autonomous ride-hailing service, and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over one million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving tens of millions of miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 13+ U.S. states.

Our Perception team builds the system that "sees" the world around the self-driving car. We conduct research to address real-world problems and collaborate with research teams at Alphabet. We have access to millions of miles of driving data from a diverse set of sensors, enabling researchers like you to develop complex models and techniques at scale.

In this hybrid role, you will report into an Engineering Director.

You will:



  • Experience applying machine learning techniques to build multi-modal sensor fusion architectures including object detection and tracking, segmentation, road understanding, flow estimation and future prediction.
  • Design large-scale foundation models trained on our vast data
  • Develop data mining, labeling, training and evaluation pipelines to help the Waymo Driver


You have:



  • Bachelors in Computer Science or a similar discipline, or an equivalent amount of deep learning experience
  • 3+ years experience in Computer Vision and Machine Learning
  • Experience with Python/C++


We prefer:



  • PhD degree in Computer Science or a similar discipline
  • Publications at top-tier conferences like CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICLR, ICML, ICRA, RSS, NeurIPS, AAAI, IJCV, PAMI

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the role location or, if the role can be performed remote, the specific salary range for your preferred location, during the hiring process.
