About this role:

Inari is looking for a talented individual to aid in the configuration and ongoing support of our Plant Breeding software platform (Prism). This individual will interact with individuals and teams from the Breeding, Late Product Development, and Greenhouse groups. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in the AgTech industry to grow with our company over time.

Field System Senior Staff Informatics Engineer:

Be first line support for PRISM Plant Breeding Software triaging or resolving tickets based on severity and scope

Create/modify/troubleshoot PRISM processes, entities, and reports to meet the needs of a rapidly growing company

Coordinate with scientists, breeders, and research associates (both local and remote) to understand short and long term needs, as well as identifying gaps in current implementations

Support database operations and integrations via our AWS environment to agronomy systems.

Support creation and delivery of a variety of reports and external integrations

Create and deliver training materials for employees utilizing vendor resources and input

Create and update reports and datasets based on user feedback and management needs as well as ad hoc reports based on the needs of the day

Communicate issues to software vendors and implement/deploy changes based on feedback

Coordinate with software vendors on new features, updates to existing features, and service issues

Work with users and software engineers to ensure smooth data movement between the PRISM, LIMS, ELN and other applications

Contribute to design and overall engineering roadmap.

You Bring:

BA/BS in Science related field or experience that will allow you to succeed

5+ years experience with software development experience

Strong Knowledge of T-SQL and experience using SQL Management Studio

Must be able to effectively communicate with both PhD level scientists and field operators.

Skilled in deploying applications in AWS including in RDS, EC2, Lambda, and EKS.

Ability to lead meetings that are in person and over video conference

Must be self-motivated and customer focused

Must be able to make decisions based on incomplete information and adjust as necessary

Excellent organizational skills

Must be able to prioritize work but understand priorities change

A collaborative mindset that is open to giving and receiving ideas, perspectives, and feedback

Ability to work both independently and deliver on responsibilities within a highly collaborative environment

A passion for CI/CD and containerization technology. When you learned about docker, you told your parents you met someone special.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross functional environment in a self-directed fashion

Active interest in learning new technology or domains. We are an organization that goes across many disciplines.

Leverage your expertise to help build and support these software engineering initiatives at Inari:

Distributed software systems in AWS

Cloud-native development (micro-services, serverless, containers/Kubernetes)

Building backend systems (API servers with Python or other prominent programming languages)

Query Languages (SQLAlchemy/GraphQL)

Building data storage systems (SQL/NoSQL databases, data lakes, s3)

Additional Skills Desired:

Experience working with plant breeders and agronomists.

A strong sense of purpose and drive to develop unique, high impact solutions.

Adaptability and enthusiasm for new challenges, innate curiosity, and a passion for learning.

Creative and strategic thinking, willingness to be bold and take risks, and the ability to recognize and learn from failure.

Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of individuals and audiences.

4+ years of advanced Python development experience on production/commercial-grade web applications and building middleware applications connecting to enterprise software.

Experience working with agtech or biotech.

Experience working with plant breeders and working with geospatial data.
