Job Summary

Manages digital and social media strategy and content planning, as well as communications strategies and plans for programs. Serves as a communications liaison to large-scale programs. Responsible for setting performance goals and objectives, delivering evaluations, and measuring the success of each communications program. This position will help lead strategic communications planning.

This position will interact on a regular basis with: Faculty, staff, students, alumni, and media contacts.
This position typically will advise and counsel: Unit leadership, lead communicators, faculty, staff, and students.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Develop and lead editorial/content plans for College's home page, news page, newsletters, and social media accounts, while writing and editing web, magazine, and newsletter articles. This includes writing about published research, in addition to faculty, staff, student profiles, and awards

Job Duty 2 -
Prepare staff performance evaluations

Job Duty 3 -
Manage staff who focus on story development and writing, graphic design, video, and photography

Job Duty 4 -
Create and lead all aspects of the communications plans. This includes overall strategies, not limited to marketing, designing of collateral, and creating content for print, digital, & social media

Job Duty 5 -
Formulate and lead internal communications strategies

Job Duty 6 -
Advise the lead communicators in the areas of developing story ideas and campaigns, as well as video and graphic design production

Job Duty 7 -
Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Eight to ten years of job-related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated competency in communications functions - strong writer and editor.
Experience creating and implementing integrated communications strategies and ability to use reporting tools to derive insights.
Experience leading a team with strong interpersonal skills who is passionate about developing and supporting people.
Resilient, creative thinker who takes initiative and can identify innovative solutions to complex problems.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
Ability to generate story ideas and manage the editorial calendar. Ability to plan, compose and schedule newsletters and annual reports. Ability to manage and multi-task several projects. Ability to manage and build social media channels, along with developing engaging content for audiences

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge in content management. Knowledge of editorial software applications. Knowledge of planning and implementing communications for projects or programs. Knowledge in management principles, practices, and procedures

SKILLS
Requires strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills. Strong organizational skills, planning skills, time management skills, and great attention to detail skills. Strong proofreading and editing skills

Marketing & Digital Strategy

Assistant Director, Communications: This key leadership position on the Marketing & Digital Strategy team leads the strategy and delivery of communications efforts to positively influence the perception of GTPE. This includes management of the communications team members, oversight of the brand voice, development of compelling content, and data-driven organic promotional strategies.

Communications Team Objective: The communications team serves to build awareness of and elevate the Georgia Tech Professional Education brand as a leader in education innovation and lifetime learning. Our strategies are focused primarily on engagement and reach and include tactics like content creation and dissemination on the website, blog and social channels, brand-level marketing campaigns, executive communication support and media/PR.
