About the Office for Supplier Diversity

The Office for Supplier Diversity works with businesses owned by women, BIPOC, and disabled individuals, and with other underserved businesses, to facilitate their integration into the University's supply chain. By providing support to underserved local businesses and connecting them with University purchasers, the Office for Supplier Diversity leverages the University's resources to build powerful economic partnerships in our communities. The Office for Supplier Diversity is part of the University's Office for Equity and Diversity.

About the Position

The Goods & Services Supplier Diversity Manager ("Manager") is primarily responsible for developing and implementing the University's strategy to increase the diversity of suppliers that provide goods and services to the University. The Manager develops and implements effective processes to track purchases and ensure compliance with the University's targeted business program rules. In doing this, the Manager must have project management skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to refine and improve compliance processes. The Manager works closely with the University's purchasing department, external vendors, community stakeholders, and others to implement compliance processes and to identify new contracting opportunities for women, BIPOC, and disabled-owned businesses. The Manager reports directly to OSD's Executive Director.

The Office for Supplier Diversity offers a collaborative, mission-driven work environment, with excellent work-life balance, and the ability to perform duties with a significant impact on the University and larger community. The Manager position is a full-time, year-round, civil service position. The University offers a competitive compensation package, commensurate with experience and background, and excellent benefits. The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $75,000.

Duties and Responsibilities

Compliance & Program Management - 75%
* Develop and implement data-driven strategies to set and achieve goals for the University's utilization of diverse suppliers of goods and services.

* Develop and implement efficient and effective processes to track, and report on, goods and services purchases that fall within the targeted business program set forth in the Board of Regents Policy: Targeted Business, Community Economic Development, and Small Business Programs. This key responsibility involves receiving, organizing, and tracking a large volume of information from external and internal partners related to purchases and contracting opportunities.

Supplier Diversity Initiatives - 25%
* Identify potential inclusion opportunities at the University, seek out high-potential, high performing diverse businesses, and support the integration of these businesses into the University goods and services supply chain.

* Promote general supplier diversity initiatives by: 1) representing OSD at University and community events; 2) providing education about OSD's resources and processes; and 3) building partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

* Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree plus at least 4 years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal 8 years.
* Experience working in the area of process improvement, project management, and/or compliance activities.
* Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage and resolve conflict in a collaborative and respectful way.
* Excellent oral and written communications skills.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Ability to compile and organize statistical reports, empirical data, and benchmarking data.
* Demonstrated ability to operate complex software programs to store and organize data, to produce data reports, and to effectuate compliance actions.
* Demonstrated experience in, and an ongoing commitment to, working effectively with and across diverse communities including people of color; underrepresented groups, new immigrant populations; people with both visible and invisible disabilities; women; people of various gender and sexual identities and expressions; and individuals from economically-disadvantaged backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications
* Experience managing supplier diversity programs.
* Experience working in supply chains.
* Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws related to supplier diversity.
* Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SmartComp software.
