Department Information

Georgia Tech's Institute for Electronics and Nanotechnology (IEN) and Institute for Materials (IMat) are seeking a Marketing & Event Coordinator II. IEN and IMat are two Interdisciplinary Research Institutes that are merging to create a new organization on July 1, 2024.

The Marketing & Event Coordinator will be the primary point of contact for departmental events, especially those supporting our research centers, programs, and initiatives. The role will also support our departmental marketing & communications efforts. This position will collaborate with a variety of teams and research groups to support exciting initiatives.

Job Summary

Provide primary support to a unit's marketing efforts through development of communications materials and planning and conducting marketing related events. Marketing efforts are normally directed towards promoting attendance at unit sponsored events (e.g. workshops, symposium, course offerings, etc.) and other programs or services offered by the unit. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: unit faculty and staff, students, guests and event attendees, facilities staff and vendors. This position typically will advise and counsel: unit marketing management, students and event attendees. This position will supervise: NA.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Prepare promotional materials to include writing and editing for print, website, newsletters, etc.

Job Duty 2 -
Participate in event planning and preparation to include coordinating/making space reservations and other arrangements, assist in the registration process, materials production and distribution, etc.

Job Duty 3 -
Maintain and update the unit's website content; or portion of site content, devoted to marketing efforts.

Job Duty 4 -
Provide prompt and informed responses to customer inquiries.

Job Duty 5 -
May provide direction and guidance to lower-level Marketing & Event Coordinators.

Job Duty 6 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Technical Diploma, Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Four to six years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with web platforms like Mailchimp, Qualtrics, Constant Contact, and web conferencing software
  • Experience collecting and proofreading information for articles and other externally-distributed communications
  • Event management experience, both for small and large events, such as workshops or conferences
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This job requires working knowledge of event planning and coordination. Included are skills in communications, customer service delivery, website maintenance and the application of marketing concepts and practices. Use of office related computer applications is required.

Salary Range or Pay Range: $22.12 to $30.09

Salary will commensurate with experience and education
