Overview
World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world's leading conservation organizations, seeks a Payroll Specialist. Major Function Processes payroll and completes related activities accurately and within the established schedule. Maintains accurate and current payroll records for the organization. Ensures timely and accurate delivery of wage payments, garnishments, and employment tax data to WWF's designated payroll and tax vendor.
Responsibilities
Processes WWF's biweekly payroll including all changes affecting employees' payroll status such as new hires, changes in status, and terminations. Completes all activities related to finalizing biweekly payroll including payroll wires completion, check/payslip mailing, and report distribution. Ensures timely and accurate delivery of wage payments, garnishments, and employment tax data using WWF's designated payroll/tax vendor.Responsible for maintaining current WWF payroll and unemployment tax accounts. Monitors and works with payroll/tax vendor and/or agencies to resolve tax notices. Assists with new payroll tax registrations as needed. Ensures the correct tax setup based on work locations and/or remote work arrangements. Participates in W-2 production in partnership with WWF's designated payroll/tax vendor.Works with manager to review and follow up on payroll and tax reconciling items. Collaborates with internal subject matter experts and outside payroll/tax vendor on timely resolution of discrepancies. Conducts periodic tax reconciliations and resolves variances to ensure correct quarterly and annual data. Responsible for submitting payroll-related journal entries as needed.Serves as an expert to WWF staff by conducting new employee payroll orientation sessions, briefing new employees regarding payroll taxes, direct deposit, timesheet completion, and general pay policies and procedures. Responds to staff inquiries concerning payroll matters. Responds to requests from banks, mortgage companies, etc. for verifications of employment.Ensures biweekly timesheet completion. Works with employees and managers to follow up on outstanding timesheets and/or resolve timesheet discrepancies.Initiates the monthly Effort Certification process and approves EC Payroll Accounting Adjustments as needed.Responsible for providing payroll data and documentation for internal and external audits.Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required. A minimum of four years of payroll-related experience including automated payroll systems. Payroll tax experience is required. Experience with Workday Payroll and ADP Tax Services preferred.
