Position title: Porter Elective Courses Pre-Six Lecturer Salary range:
Course credit varies from one to five credits. A reasonable estimate for an appointment to teach a standard five-credit course is $8,282 - $14,100 (based on salary points 1-19). Please see the UCSC Salary Scales and refer to the Non-senate Instructional (NSI) Unit 18 Pre-six Lecturer Academic Year scale. Instructional Workload Credit (IWC) valuation may vary and the course salary will be adjusted accordingly. Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year (see Summer Session Faculty and Lecturer Pay). Percent time:

Appointments are contingent on the hiring unit's instructional need and the availability of funding. This recruitment is valid for initial appointments beginning in spring quarter 2024 through spring quarter 2025. Initial appointments made after this period must be made through other recruitments. Appointments are typically made during one or more quarters of the regular academic year (fall, winter, and spring quarters), but they may also be made during Summer Session. Successful candidates will be expected to teach 2-credit or 5-credit courses in their area of expertise. Porter College is especially dedicated to fostering achievement in the arts and humanities. Applicants with expertise in art history, creative writing, dance, environmental art, film and video, literature, philosophy of art, photography, theater arts, and visual art are strongly encouraged to apply. We are also interested in applicants with college-level teaching experience and/or experience teaching first-year university students. Internal candidates will be given priority consideration.
