Summary

The Department of Neurology at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking applications from enthusiastic Postdoctoral Associates interested in delving into projects that explore the role of NADPH oxidase 2 in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease. This research will involve investigating its contribution in both cell cultures and rat models of the disease.

Description of Responsibilities

The project encompasses diverse scientific methodologies, such as behavioral testing, immunohistochemistry, confocal imaging analysis, Western blotting analysis, molecular biology, and single-cell and spatial transcriptomics studies. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting independent research, publishing articles in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting findings at both lab meetings and national/international scientific conferences. Postdoctoral applicants will receive mentorship for proposal development and are strongly encouraged to participate in career development activities. Additionally, they will have access to various weekly seminar series and Grand Rounds opportunities.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a PhD in basic sciences and demonstrate a track record of academic excellence, independent research, and a keen interest in both basic and pre-clinical research. Individuals with backgrounds in Neurobiology, Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, and Pharmacology are encouraged to apply.
