The National Multiple Sclerosis Society mobilizes people and resources to drive research for a cure and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS. To fulfill this mission, the Society funds cutting-edge research, drives change through advocacy, facilitates professional education, collaborates with MS organizations around the world, and provides programs and services designed to help people with MS and their families move their lives forward. We partner with volunteers to accomplish our work. Staff members engage volunteers through effective and timely communications, facilitating meaningful opportunities, and continually seeking and providing feedback for reciprocal growth and learning.

The research information role is mission critical as it supports the dissemination of complex scientific content to internal and external stakeholders. This function not only supports the research function, but also provides essential support to the fundraising, philanthropy, advocacy, access to care, and constituent support functions.

The Society is looking for a skilled scientific communications professional to develop compelling and understandable plain language research content for internal and external stakeholders. A major part of your responsibilities will include translating complex scientific terms and concepts into easy-to-understand content for dissemination through different Society communications channels (e.g., print, traditional and social media).

The Manager of Research Information will also develop plain language content that supports philanthropy, fundraising, client education, and advocacy functions. They will be responsible for measuring and reporting the impact of the Society's research investments and support two highly visible MS research prize programs that celebrate research progress and innovation in MS research.

Requirements

  • The role requires a BA/BS or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., communications, journalism, relevant scientific discipline),

  • 3-5 years' experience in science or medical writing, editing, content development for the public, and knowledge /experience with scientific disciplines relevant to MS (e.g., (immunology, neuroscience, autoimmune and/or neurodegenerative disease).

  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office suite programs is required and experience with relational databases is desirable.

Compensation & Benefits Information

Estimatedhiringcompensation range for this role is $69,000 - $82,332. Final offers are based on candidategeographic location and will take into consideration candidate's career experience. Final offers may vary from this range due to theseand otherfactors.
