Duties & Responsibilities

Purpose

The Sales Engineer is responsible for identifying business opportunities and building (long-term) relationships with customers.

Listens to customers and identifies their needs, asks the right questions to provide sound professional advice to support their business. Combines commercial and technical competences. Requires thinking in terms of opportunities, without losing the sight of risks. Able to see the big picture without losing an eye for detail.

Staying informed of market developments, technological developments and not losing sight of the competition is essential. Traveling internationally is required, open to and easy going with other cultures. Interested in great dynamics and variety of markets and logistics solutions in a highly varied working environment.

Functions

ESSENTIAL

* Identify and analyze the customer's needs, understands customer's business case for new innovations and use these as a business opportunity.

* See opportunities in complex logistic projects with high dynamics and multiple interfaces. Expert in data and process analyses, play a leading role at the concept stage and directs the customer and engineering teams on process and concept level, has knowledge of optimizing material flow strategies.



  • Develop market analysis, sales strategies and action plans for identified targets of opportunity for the European market.
  • Customer specification analysis, quoting and calculation.
  • Explore growth strategies and to develop customer relationships.
  • Develop new relationships through client interface with the goal of increasing global business and maintain existing customers.
  • Collaborate with internal marketing and engineering departments.
  • Provide input to bids and proposals team through insight based on customer interactions, market intelligence and experience. Support bid and proposals with market data, price and discount rates.
  • Monitors and evaluates the activities and products of the competition.
  • Network in Industry with clients and with other business prospects.

* Working in a multidisciplinary and multi-national team.



  • Domestic and international travel up to 25% of the time to establish customer relationships

Qualifications

REQUIRED

* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.

* Demonstrated results with a minimum of 3-5 years in business development or related experience.

* Commercial, customer and result-oriented and you have an affinity with material handling and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AGV / AMR) in particular.

* Good at building relationships and networking with customers and equals.

* Creative, entrepreneurial and commercial thinking.

* Excellent written and oral communications in German and English are essential.

* Strong computer skills including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.

* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with local and remote team members with different cultural backgrounds.

* Strong presentation, influencing and persuasion skills.

* Excellent interviewing skills including active listening and empathy.

* Excellent organizational skills.

* Demonstrated ability to meet hard deadlines.

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
