Overview
St. John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts institution that provides a transformative education to approximately 3,800 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students each year. Across its five Schools, Fisher offers nearly 40 majors in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business, education, and nursing; 11 pre-professional programs; and master's and doctoral programs in business, nursing, education, pharmacy, and public health. The University's residential campus boasts a robust living and learning community and a successful intercollegiate athletics program. We are located in Pittsford, N.Y., seven miles outside of the city of Rochester. The campus is situated on 164 park-like acres-a beautiful setting for a warm, friendly campus community.
Job Responsibilities

  • With the dean and department chair, design and implement program policies, procedures, and activities, as follows: 40%

    • Interface with executive leaders in school districts, higher education institutions, health care organizations, non-profit human service agencies, and businesses
    • Serve as the Executive Leadership Program liaison with other academic departments and administrative offices at the University
    • Manage and organize Ed.D. award ceremonies at graduation ceremony in conjunction with assistant to the dean and Iona admin
    • Work with Campus Life Office, communicate and coordinate commencement activities to DEXL candidate
    • Manage dissertation publishing process with Lavery Library and Fisher Digital Publications
    • Participate in School of Education events, meetings, and committees as needed
    • Work with Department Chair, Marketing & Communications, Registrar, and Dean's office to create, edit, and maintain program materials (Graduate Catalog, brochures, web site, etc.)
    • Create, edit, and maintain program materials (Ed.D. Resources on Brightspace, Dissertation Guidelines, Dissertation Preparation Guidelines, Field Experience Forms, etc.)
    • Coordinate Ed.D. program meetings and events
    • Coordinate and manage alumni engagement activities
    • Manage Ed.D. Program alumni LinkedIn social media page
    • Maintain Ed.D. Program alumni contacts
    • Create, edit, and publish the Ed.D. Newsletter twice a year
    • Coordinate with the assistant to the dean and Iona admin all the management, planning, set-up, and scheduling of workshops for the extension site visit in June every year
    • Field experience development - increase outreach to executive mentors, maintain a list of mentors and available projects, work with faculty on managing field experiences, etc.
    • Track all program dissertation defenses and send spreadsheet to registrar's office with completions and changes in graduation date



  • Work with the Office of Graduate Admission on recruitment efforts to enroll qualified candidates for the program (25%)

    • Promote the University, SoE, and Ed.D. Program by participating in community events and meetings
    • Schedule and confirm all interviews for candidates at Rochester site beginning summer 2024
    • Invite and confirm alumni and current candidates for information sessions


  • Manage the assessment and advisement systems and other candidate support areas (networking, dissertation development, assessment, registration, graduation follow-up, and alumni development) (20%)

    • Register program students for classes and collect data, reports, and other information to support program operations
    • Track and report on student dissertation progress using the dissertation milestone forms
    • Confirm textbooks with faculty, determine costs, and provide information to the dean/provost for approval until fall 2024
    • Order and distribute textbooks for candidates until fall 2024
    • Create cohort weekend schedules and distribute to faculty and Graduate Admissions and post on Brightspace


  • Coordinate office support for full-time and adjunct program faculty (5%)

    • Manage the graduate assistants, working with the chair and site directors until summer 2024
    • Supervise and evaluate graduate assistants at SJF site until summer 2024
    • Assist the chair with special projects and work independently on certain assigned projects


  • Additional duties as assigned by the dean (10%)

Education / Experience
Minimum Bachelor's Degree or significant experience required. Office experience in higher education is desirable.
