Position Summary: The Counselor III is responsible for providing outpatient individual and group counseling services to justice-involved clients prison/jail diversion and reentry programs. This position interacts with a multidisciplinary team comprised of counselors, parole officers, mentors, and employment specialists.

Compensation: $57,345.60 - $76,440 (Depends on Experience and/or Certifications). This is a full-time position with excellent benefits! Benefits package includes medical, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, short and long-term disability insurance, 403(b) with automatic 5.5% contribution after 18-months regardless of employee participation, flexible spending account, employee assistance program, and other voluntary benefits and discounts. Generous paid time off plan includes 15 days in the first year, 23 days in the second year, and 26 days in the third year.

Education, Training and Experience:

* Master's degree in psychology, social work or behavioral science field is required.

* Ability to register with MHACBO as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP-R) or ability to obtain and maintain active status with an eligible state licensing board.

* Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor certification preferred.

* Minimum 3 years of experience in substance abuse counseling preferred. Experience in mental health counseling and provision of clinical services for persons with dual diagnoses.

* Knowledge of criminal behavior and at-risk populations.

* Knowledge of engagement challenges with a mandated population and skills to engage mandated clients.

* Experience in mental health counseling and clinical services for persons with dual diagnoses.

Additional Eligibility Requirements:

* Ability to pass a criminal background check.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Provide culturally informed individual and group counseling congruent with Outpatient treatment phases and client clinical needs. Maintain fidelity to treatment models.

* Conduct substance abuse and mental health assessments and clinical evaluations using standardized instruments, ASAM and DSM criteria.

* Write and maintain accurate and timely treatment documentation including progress notes, treatment plans, assessments, discharge summaries.

* Abide by policies and procedures and all relevant state and federal treatment regulations and standards.

* Maintain current licenses and certifications; participate in required training as needed.

* Participate with team members (clinical, administrative and VOA) in a manner that contributes to healthy team functioning.

Other Responsibilities:

* Attend and participate in Counseling Meetings, Group Supervision, Dual Diagnosis Group Supervision, and individual clinical supervision.

* Assist in program development.

* Other duties as assigned.

Environmental Conditions: Works in a professional office setting with moderate light and temperature. Frequent meetings outside of the office, or other VOA facilities.

Schedule: This is a full-time position; 40 hrs. per week; may include some evening hours.
