The Allen Lab in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Loyola University Chicago is seeking a research associate with a background in biology or chemistry. Our group is focused on understanding antagonistic behaviors between bacteria in the hope of developing new therapeutics to treat infections or optimize probiotic strains. Specifically, we employ a cross-disciplinary approach to investigate particular aspects of toxin production in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The research associate will primarily conduct biological assays to elucidate biological and biochemical properties of such toxins. A successful applicant will also communicate scientific results in weekly meetings, oversee and participate in lab operations, and mentor/train students.
