Responsibilities

Underwriting Internship - Summer 2024 - Atlanta, GA

About the Internship:

Beazley's Underwriting Internship provides qualified individuals the opportunity to spend 10 weeks learning about the insurance industry and Beazley's specialty products. Interns will learn from experienced underwriters from each of our divisions (Specialty Risks, Cyber Risks, Property Risks, MAP, and Beazley Digital) and will have the opportunity to network with managers and senior leaders from across the globe!

The internship will consist of three primary focuses: Team-guided work, a Term Project, and Professional Development sessions. Each of these focuses will help form a strong foundational understanding of the insurance industry, and will help individuals understand what a career at Beazley could look like. All work assignments will require a blend of individual contribution and cross-functional collaboration. Some examples of tasks might include:

  • Financial analysis of key risk measures
  • Drafting risk exposure profiles
  • Preparation and analysis of standardized insurance conditions
  • Supporting claims management

What to Expect as an Underwriting Intern at Beazley:

  • Introductory training in insurance from industry experts
  • Professional development training sessions on topics including (but not limited to): Networking, Business Presentations, Goal Setting, Career Management, and more!
  • Experience presenting research and data to key stakeholders
  • Mentorship from early career and other up-and-coming professionals
  • Social events and outings with Beazley leadership, colleagues, and brokers
  • Access to networking and training sessions with employee resource groups (Beazley: -SHE, -Race, -Proud, -Families, -Wellbeing, -Neurodiversity)

The internship is in person at our Atlanta, GA office, but we encourage all interested candidates to apply as relocation accommodations may be considered for the right candidate. We are eager to support the long-term career goals of our employees, and the opportunity to return for an additional internship or full-time position (upon graduation) may be available to top interns.

  • Communication: Able to clearly articulate thoughts and ideas to audiences of varying skill levels
  • Critical Thinking: Able to "read between the lines" of a document and hypothesize various outcomes
  • Attention to detail: Are you quick to notice how an extra 0 or a misplaced comma could affect the outcome of an account?
  • Relationship management: Follows up with clients and customers in a timely manner; willingness to find compromises with key partners when necessary
