Position Overview |
The
Department of Social and Cultural Sciences is hiring a
Teaching Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) to teach undergraduate courses in sociology, including
SOCI 1001 (Principles of Sociology),
SOCI 3200 (Social Problems in Urban Society), and upper-division electives in their areas of expertise. We have needs for courses on Collective Behavior & Social Movements, Education, Global Migration, Popular Culture, and Sports but are open to all areas of focus. The position is for 9 months and begins in August 2024, with the possibility of reappointment for subsequent terms. Candidates from underrepresented groups are especially encouraged to apply. |
Duties and Responsibilities |
Applicants will be fully responsible for course design, content, syllabus preparation, and delivery, grading exams and papers. Courses must be offered in person. Must maintain a minimum of three office hours per week. All full-time faculty are expected to attend faculty meetings. |
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities |
Earned doctorate or a terminal degree. Five years of teaching experience or other suitable professional experience. |
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities |
A PhD in Sociology or related social science field is required by the time of appointment. ABDs with a clear timeline for completion before the start of employment will be considered. Demonstrated excellence in teaching. |
