Industrial Design Intern

The Consumer Products Innovation Team in Columbus, OH is in search of an Industrial Design intern for summer of 2024. Our team is a collaboration of industrial designers, engineers, consumer insights researchers and product managers. The ideal candidate will deliver industrial design content as an individual contributor in support of the innovation team's projects and goals.

Solid ID background is necessary, strong aesthetic awareness and practical experience with engineering is preferred.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

* Opportunity to become immersed in at least one active consumer product project.

* Join, participate, and learn in all design-related aspects of our development process.

* Actively track and share trends, products, and categories for innovation.

* Design research - personas, journey mapping, and summary reporting.

* 2D Sketch development of concepts and form exploration

* 3D modeling / rendering

* 3D printing / prototype development

* Fabrication shop duties: tear-down & build physical models/product prototypes etc.

* Assist with curating and executing cross-functional work sessions when needed

* Comprehensive documentation of design journey/process

Qualifications:

* Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Industrial Design

* Natural curiosity for how things work and are made

* Submission of a non-confidential portfolio demonstrating student/professional work.

* Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite

* Experience using Solid Works or similar 3D modeling software.

* Experience in Keyshot or other rendering software

* Strong graphic design and presentation skills.

* Strength in qualitative research synthesis that supports design decisions
