Graphic Design Intern

OVERVIEW:

Graphic Designer for Summer 2024 paid internship. Up to 40 hours per week. In-person schedule TBD May-August. Date range is flexible to accommodate college schedule.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Sharpen your skills and build your portfolio by contributing to a company that's focused on increasing brand awareness and consistency across visual brand touchpoints. We're looking for a talented graphic designer who brings a positive attitude and can thrive in a fast-pace work environment. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to drive design-forward thinking from ideation thru concept development, refinement, and execution. The ideal candidate must be able to execute multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines. The designer must be able to articulate creative thinking, and feel comfortable communicating ideas to design leadership and marketing colleagues. Candidates should have a strong sensibility of typography, color, page layout and a sharp eye for detail that can also contribute to an atmosphere of perpetual innovation and ideation.

RESPONSIBILITES:

* Key Projects:

o Uploading and organizing visual assets into Worthington's Digital Asset Manager

o SWAG and event asset design (giveaways, swag items, tradeshow assets)

o Social media and website asset reformatting: resize current images, gifs and videos to specific platform requirements

o Preparing approved design files for print production

o Preparing and designing digital assets for online retailers, including on-brand infographics, video graphics, gifs and photos per retailer guidelines

* Ad hoc projects, per business need and intern learning goals:

o Creating new retail merchandising design concepts using brand assets and identity guidelines for consumer products. This will include adhering to company quality standards, visual identity standards, tone of voice, and brand positioning.

o Support planning, preparation and execution of photo and video shoots.

o Presentation template design and refining current sales and marketing decks

o Other design-related projects including, but not limited to, print marketing, digital advertising, and project management.

REQUIREMENTS:

* Current junior or graduating senior working towards a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or related field

* Strong visual communication skills

* Comfortable working one on one with non-designers to understand project objectives, design implications and develop appropriate visual communications

* Eagerness to learn, naturally curious and inquisitive

* Self-starter with comfort in ambiguous situations

* Capable of juggling several assignments at once and meeting deadlines

* Strong sketching skills a plus

* Minimum of 3.0 GPA

Competency in the following software:

* Adobe CC (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)

* MS Word & PowerPoint

* Comfortable on Mac and PC
