The Well is UC Riverside's health promotion department focused on holistic well-being, housed within the Health, Well-being, and Safety Division. The Health Promotion Specialist at The Well is responsible for developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating multifaceted, comprehensive student health and well-being education efforts in collaboration with colleagues at The Well and across campus. Topic areas related to this position include physical fitness, well-being, healthy eating, injury prevention, peer leadership and professional development, and other emerging wellness priorities and initiatives. This position will oversee the peer health educator group called Public Health Peers, who helps support public health efforts. This position also coordinates the Power of the Peers Network, a group of over 30 peer educator and mentor groups across campus, to provide collaborative training and professional development opportunities to student leaders.

In partnership with The Well Director, the Health Promotion Specialist is responsible for maintaining a program budget, staying current on health trends and needs of college students, and researching and implementing evidence-based health promotion programs and best practices. The Health Promotion Specialist will work from a public health and social justice lens and promote holistic well-being for students campus-wide within their topic areas. This position will also work in partnership with several departments to develop well-being programs tailored to support the needs of specific UCR populations, including but not limited to student-athletes, graduate students, fraternity and sorority groups, LGBTQIA2S+ students, students with disabilities, and student communities that may experience discrimination or marginalization and who are systemically exposed to additional harm. The Health Promotion Specialist assists with marketing, student engagement efforts, student staff supervision, and training and will work closely with The Well's Health Education staff on collaborative well-being programming.

A presentation will be required as a part of this interview process.

The full salary range for the Health Promotion Specialist is $59,000 - $103,400 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $65,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.
