General Information:

James Madison University Procurement Services is accepting applications for a professional Buyer Senior. Salary will be dependent upon the qualifications of the successful applicant.

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Provide efficient and responsive customer service in facilitating the purchase of goods and services that meet the needs of the university
-Facilitate purchases according to applicable laws and policies/procedures
-Negotiate term contracts and various agreements, serve as vendor advocate to increase total vendor base of the university which includes providing opportunity and education to small, woman and minority owned businesses
-Conduct research to ensure appropriate knowledge of potential contracts, products and vendors and provide advice, guidance and interpretation assistance to campus departments in regard to contracts and purchases.

Qualifications:

-Be highly proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, have a high technical aptitude
-Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
-Detail oriented
-Extremely organized
-Maintain confidentiality

Additional Considerations:
-Professional Buyer Certification or the ability to obtain after hire
-Technical writing experience and use of web based systems
-Have experience in data analysis/market research
-Demonstrate professionalism at all times
-Possess project management skills
-Demonstrate ethical reasoning and be adaptable to change
-Possess strong interpersonal skills to maintain a high functioning team dynamic
-Negotiation skills
