The Production Lead takes ownership to ensure that the highest quality products are produced. Provides support to Production Supervisors by leading and achieving business goals through superb people leadership on the shop floor, with responsibility for product safety, product quality, cost management, work safety, and compliance. Executes production schedules.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The line lead will report to the production supervisor daily and will be responsible for overseeing the production as well as the cleanup activities of assigned line. this individual is expected to oversee the setup of the production equipment, provide training & oversight to staff personnel and track production metrics as well as fill out work orders to reflect the production activity.

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Leads production work area with or without direct supervision.
  • Creates crewing and rotation schedules under the supervisory of Production Supervisors to ensure completion of job assignments, coordinates staff member meals and breaks.
  • Coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production goals are met and that product quality meets specifications.
  • Resolves operational, manufacturing and maintenance problems to prevent operational delays with minimum costs.
  • Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  • Ensures that necessary ingredients, supplies, tools, equipment, and documentation are available for the next product run.
  • Communicates pertinent information with all employees regarding department and company performance, company policies and safety regulations.
  • Verifies that staff members are present as scheduled for the shift and assign tasks that need to be completed.
  • Assists in the development and revision of standard operational and working practices; observes team members to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Collaborates closely, in a positive manner, with QA to assure the product meets all specifications. Reports to appropriate QA and Management if a change is needed to improve product quality.
  • Reviews Safety and Housekeeping on a regular basis, communicates areas of opportunity to employees and takes "real time" action to correct issues; leads and champions the 5s program for his/her team.
  • Maintains shift to shift relationships by communicating with each shift supervisor before the shift change to determine production needs and priorities.
  • Conducts a short changeover meeting with the oncoming Lead to apprise him/her of operational status.
  • Ensures that new team members know their responsibilities and tasks. Assists with their needs in a positive and welcoming manner.
  • Ensures team members are trained and certified in all procedures within the applicable time frame. When a Master Trainer is available, coordinates with the trainer to get staff members trained and certified.
  • Supports the supervisor with monitoring performance and attendance of team members and escalates if disciplinary action is needed; completes and reports ALL accidents in the production area, even if it is a minor incident.
  • Compiles required reports regarding regular inspections, sanitation violations, and steps taken to resolve deficiency including properly handling waste and accurately documenting data relative to waste disposal.
  • Performs inventories of raw and packaging materials.
  • Must become certified in all incentive positions to include operating an electric pallet jack and/or a forklift.
  • Completes all administrative duties including all line paperwork as assigned by Production Management and attends production meetings as required.
  • Leads by example in a positive and collaborative manner. Coaches and helps team members to excel in their assigned tasks. Exemplifies our culture of inclusiveness, dignity, respect, and fun!

What we require:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year of Manufacturing or Food Handling industry knowledge.
  • Being able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Industrial Technical or Machinery experience.
  • Basic hand tool knowledge.
  • Basic computer skills including Outlook and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong understanding of GMP and People Safety policies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be Crumb spinner, Mixer, Prescaler and PQG certified.
  • Must be forklift certified as required per department.
  • Must be electric pallet jack certified as required per department

  • Twisting, grasping, reaching, turning, stooping, and lifting to 80% of shift.
