Position Summary

The Theatre House Attendant helps oversee the Front of House theater activities for performances and rentals at the Majestic Theatre. Duties include overseeing volunteers and staff performing the Front of House duties such as box office, concessions, and ushering. Work with talent, Back of House staff, volunteers, and clients to manage the timing and flow of performances and rentals. Successful candidate will have ability to use a computer, and to learn department-specific computer hardware and software, to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be 21 or over.

Non-represented, casual position
Part-time, approx. 10 hours per week
Primarily Fri & Sat evenings, Sun afternoons
Occasional weekday hours

brings a wide range of artistic productions and arts education programs to Corvallis.


Essential Functions

Oversees Front of House duties for Majestic Theatre performances and rentals. Hosts performances and rental events, provides customer service to patrons, volunteers, and artist hospitality. Oversees volunteer and staff duties such as box office, concessions, and ushering. Assists volunteer and staff cashiers with preparing their deposits. Answers building-use questions for clients, volunteers, and patrons. Ensures compliance with the Oregon Liquor Control Commission controls, state and local health codes. Prepares the theater for performances: locks and unlocks the theatre, ensures that spaces are clean and ready before and after the event, cleans up incidental messes, and alerts custodial staff to larger clean up needs.

Greets and provides assistance and direction to volunteers, clients, patrons, and performers.

Provides training to volunteers on fire procedures, box office, concessions, and ushering processes.
Performs other support duties as assigned.
Conforms with all safety rules and performs work is a safe manner.
Adheres to all City and Department policies.
Delivers excellent customer service to diverse audiences.
Maintains effective work relationships.
Arrives to work, meetings, and other work-related functions on time and maintains regular job attendance.

Qualifications and Skills

Education and Experience
One year related work experience in theatre or event services preferred; or any combination of education and experience that provides the employee with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
Kno wl ed g e , Skills and Abilities
Ability to work independently and handle a high degree of responsibility for both the quality of work performed and the security of the facility. Knowledge of box office ticketing software such as Arts People.
Ability to deliver excellent customer service to a diverse customer population.
Ability to be assertive, punctual, and enjoy working with a wide diversity of people and groups.
Maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, staff and volunteers in a team-oriented environment. Requires strong communication skills and high attention to details. Ability to handle cash and process payments adhering to City policy.
Working knowledge of safe work practices, and ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment, (window cleaning spray, vacuum, mop and broom), to perform light janitorial duties.
Requires an understanding of standardized rules, regulations and instructions. Routine decision making regarding assessment of immediate situations, available options, and selection of appropriate methods and procedures. Deviations from standard procedures generally require approval of the supervisor.
Spe ci a l Requirements
Oregon Liquor Control Commission service permit, Oregon food handler card, and CPR / First Aid certification.
Must be able to work in conjunction with the performance and rental schedule which may include holidays, evenings, weekends, as needed throughout the year.
