Utility Worker

Schedule: Work hours vary based on facility needs, including overtime, holiday, and weekend shifts.

The Utility Worker plays a crucial role in our operations, performing clean-up duties such as restroom and breakroom facility maintenance. They also serve as a versatile employee, filling in for various production positions within the department as needed.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Must have the ability to learn and perform all jobs within the department.
• Looks for ways to improve efficiency and uptime and makes recommendations to Supervisor.
• Provides input to Supervisor on maintenance needs.
• Sweeps up sawdust and veneer scraps with a push broom.
• Picks up scraps of veneer with shovel, rake, or by hand.
• Paints various plant equipment and materials (barriers, framework, guards, etc.).
• Performs duties of various production positions within the mill when required.
• Follows Company policies, procedures, and safety rules.

To excel in this role, you'll need to possess several key qualifications. This includes the ability to effectively read and understand simple instructions, rules, signs, and memos. Additionally, basic mathematical skills are essential for tasks such as counting and performing simple calculations. Understanding production numbers, goals, and quotas will also be crucial for success in this position. Lastly, as the role may involve physical tasks, a good level of physical fitness is required, including the ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, stoop, and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
