Summary:

UNC Rehabilitation Services is seeking an Occupational Therapist I PD to join our team in providing comprehensive care for patients and families in our PICU/PCICU and inpatient pediatric floors at UNC Children's. Qualified candidates may also provide care to patients in our Level IV NICU.

This position requires regular Saturday or Sunday coverage, with weekday shift availability based on caseload and team needs.

This is highly skilled, rehabilitative work with children and families whose abilities to cope with the daily tasks of living are impaired by prematurity, medical complexities, severe illness, trauma, oncologic diagnoses, and more. Employees in this classification provide occupational therapy evaluation, consultation and skilled treatment to patients in a specialty area and serve as a resource or contact for the department within that specialty area.

The selected candidate for this role will need acute pediatric experience. NICU experience preferred.

Responsibilities:

1. Diagnostic Testing - Administers basic & complex diagnostic tests and evaluations in the area of Occupational Therapy for the treatment of functional deficits and related impairments.

2. Evaluation of Care - Analyzes results of diagnostic and or therapeutic testing to establish patient goals and or modify subsequent treatment programs. Identifies expected patient outcomes. Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care.

3. Implementation-- Selects and applies current and advanced techniques to provide quality and efficient rehabilitative services. Provides habilitation/rehabilitation and maintenance of persons with related impairments. Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient/family needs.

4. Participation - Contributes to quality of clinical services through attendance and participation in departmental meetings and in-services.

5. Quality-Contributes to quality of clinical services through maintenance of valid & reliable records of patient procedures & progress. Participates in quality improvement initiatives with the clinical specialist and other healthcare professionals. Participates in continuous quality improvement efforts in conjunction with the department director.
