Job Purpose

Lead the Property Services organization Safety Programs that include Emergency Action Planning, Business Continuity, Shelter-In-Place and Fire Safety Policy. Assist with other safety and emergency programs as needed in order to continuously improve, ensure compliance and be prepared for emergency response across the Property Services New York and New England business territory in a consistent manner.

Key Accountabilities
  • Translate National Grid US Emergency Planning policies and create Emergency Action Plan (EAP) standard operating processes and procedures (outlined in the program guide) for all Property Services locations, driving greater quality and awareness for National Grid. Ensure compliance with regulation, internal standards and develop a culture of emergency preparedness. Create a tracking and reporting dashboard to validate program compliance.
  • Emergency Action Planning (EAP) will include but not be limited to overall program development, participant assignment, training, compliance monitoring and reporting. Ensure all stakeholders are trained and have conducted tabletop exercises and evacuations in preparation to respond to emergencies.
  • Work with the US Property Services teams to translate National Grid Business Continuity objectives into operating processes and procedures. Ensure compliance with regulation and internal standards and create a tracking and reporting dashboard to validate program compliance.
  • Audit and review existing Emergency and Business Continuity Plans, processes and procedures and continuously seek ways to do things better, to drive greater efficiencies for the business and more effective emergency responses.
  • Monitor and track a variety of activities such as maintenance of databases, the delivery of training and exercise drills, program progress and the calendar of emergency planning events to ensure that improvements are implemented.
  • Routinely review Fire Life Safety Policy to ensure alignment with government requirements and communicate and operationalize changes as needed.
  • Provide business continuity management training and advice to US Property Services management in the preparation of their emergency plans to ensure improvements are implemented within the business areas.
  • Create, maintain and implement the Shelter-In-Place program which includes but is not limited to identifying spaces within facilities, training local employees and working with local emergency first responders.
  • Assist with the development of Site Staging Program in Downstate New York so it is aligned with a similar program in New England.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
Qualifications
  • Degree qualified with knowledge and up to 5 years' experience with fields relating to Business Continuity, Corporate Safety and Emergency Planning. Demonstrates the ability to apply and modify theories and learned concepts appropriately. Demonstrates knowledge of the US utility business is a plus.
  • Experience of managing the work of a project with a similar size impact and preferably a project team. Demonstrates taking specific actions to enable stakeholders in a matrix environment to effectively and efficiently to achieve goals.
  • Understands theory behind policies and processes and demonstrates the ability to challenge existing processes and ways of working i.e., taking action to avoid future crisis or create opportunities to improve existing practices.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of the regulatory issues affecting the industry. Demonstrates the ability to anticipate obstacles and think ahead about next steps.
  • Demonstrates the ability network internally and externally and to develop successful, long-lasting business relationships / partnerships with others and seeks to understand and challenge business scenarios to the benefit of all parties.
  • Has proven program management ability to create, train and maintain similar programs across a large organization.
  • Education: Degree preferred in Emergency Management
  • Ability to use Excel, PowerPoint, Word to develop, maintain and report on program
  • Ability to develop training modules and present / train groups via remote and live meetings
  • Ability to interact with Subject Matter Experts in this field and interpret and execute the overall program.
  • Ability to understand and take ownership of these programs and to act as the single point of contact, drive these programs and act with very little day to day direction / supervision.
  • Ability to proactively develop positive stakeholder relationships at all levels of the business in order to be successful from the VP level to staff within Nationalgrid.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Sharepoint

Salary

$105,000 - $124,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
