Electrical Engineering Technical Leader

WHO WE ARE

In the Supply Chain Operations organization, the Product Operations team that engages in the development of computing & storage server, needs an expert and self-motivated engineer to lead electrical product engineering support of new and sustaining products.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

You'll be responsible for product cost and quality from New Product Introduction (NPI) to End of Life (EOL). To do this you will have to collaborate with multi-functional teams such as: design (hardware and mechanical), process, test, and reliability engineering to seek out problems and ensure cost avoidance and quality at First Customer Shipment (FCS). Participate and influence architectural design reviews and strategic component selection during product NPI stages. For sustaining products, you will be responsible for the initiatives on cost reduction and design related yield improvements.

You will be working very closely with Hardware Engineering, rest of Product Ops team, GSM, Manufacturing Ops and EMS partners.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Product sustaining Engineering
  • Participate in Architectural design review
  • Design lab experimentation / debug (proficiency continuum) / DOE/EFA
  • Assessing CM and supply chain technical capability gaps
  • Debug and board bring up
  • Leadership and direction of complex issue resolution
  • BOM structuring and BOM risk Management.
  • Crafting, analyzing, and releasing product documentation
  • Manufacturing (Process) FMEA review
  • Design tools proficiency (Valor, schematic, CAD, other CAE tools), for Manufacturing, for FMEA engagement and review as well as designing diagnostic analysis and input/influence
  • Support Manufacturing Cisco Change Notification and Assembly Qual Request (CCN/AQR) qualification activities

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Understanding of system hardware.
  • Experiences with Allegro, Valor and other manufacturing tools used in the job.
  • Understanding of the entire product lifecycle development process.
  • Ability to work with cross functional teams (EMS partners, Test Engineers, Diagnostic Engineers, Design Engineers) and ability to multi-task.
  • Participate in laboratory environment by working with design engineers with minimal supervision during early product lifecycle stages.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in computing/storage server industry, HW design, AGILE PDM, and project management are a plus.
  • Assessing Strategic component selection
  • Technical lifecycle management (defect reduction team participation, new component qualification, etc.)
  • Cost avoidance (pre-A0) and sustaining cost reduction.
  • Influence Design for Manufacturing and Architecture design reviews.
  • You need to have good analytics, decision making and strong communication skills to influence others.
  • Begins to assist with product and sustaining engineering related tasks; may lead Electrical Engineering projects with limited resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity.
  • May suggest improvements to existing processes and solutions to improve the efficiency of the team.
  • Good written and verbal communication. Good interpersonal skills are a plus.
  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, plus 7-10 years of related experience, or Masters in electrical engineering or related discipline.
