Departmental Overview

The Terner Center for Housing Innovation is an exciting established center that formulates bold strategies to house families from all walks of life in vibrant, sustainable and affordable homes and communities. It is a collaborative effort between the College of Environmental Design (CED) and the Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics at the Haas School of Business.

The Administrative Manager role will provide essential support for a number of the organization's functions. The individual will work closely with the Faculty Director and Organizational Development and Communications Associate to support the both day-to-day and strategic operations of the center, ensuring they are streamlined and effective.

The incumbent uses skills as a seasoned and experienced administrative operations professional to manage, plan, administer and coordinate the operations of the Terner Center and a complex research agenda and growing team of faculty, staff, and graduate student researchers. The AM participates in short- and long-term planning for the organization. The role reports to the Terner Center Associate Director, supervises support staff, and requires a high level ability to anticipate and resolve organizational challenges with professional judgement and priority management. The AM demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

Responsibilities

20% Develops and prepares budgets and financial reports for funding which may be complex and invloves portions of grant and contract proposals. Provides office management function and coordination with property management.

20% Plans and administers a range of administrative operations including strategic financial planning, budget, and HR functions.

20% Manages event planning and coordination for the Center, including internal and external meetings, speaking engagements and conferences.

15% Manages Terner Center communications, including social media, content development and dissemination and oversight of research deliverables.

15% Coordinates the Terner Center fundraising, development and donor relations.

5% Supervise a small staff of support employees and / or students.

5% Engages in training and career development; performs other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.
  • Knowledge of a variety of administrative operations activities such as events planning, basic fundraising processes, website design and content development, accounting, contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.
  • Solid interpersonal communication skills to include verbal and written, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
  • Strong skills in short and long term strategic planning, analysis and problem-solving and customer service.
  • Strong skills in grant writing and relationship management of foundations with a focus on housing, community development, sustainability/climate change and equity interests.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, account and fund management, personnel management.

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $93,000 - $105,000.
