General Information:

James Madison University's Facilities Management is currently seeking an Electrician. This position will perform technically routine, installation, repair, maintenance, and service of electrical equipment in university-owned buildings and other areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to:

Provide service and repairs to the electrical distribution system, diagnose problems, repair and maintain a variety of electrical equipment including food service, laboratory, and card access systems.

Install a variety of new equipment, including complete electrical circuits to the equipment.

Plan workloads based on priorities.

Provide accurate and timely reports as needed.

Order electrical equipment, replacement parts, new parts, and supplies to maintain the ability to respond to normal and emergency tasks.

Coordinate with contractors and engineering staff to accomplish various electrical projects.

Ensure the University's electrical systems are maintained in a manner that promotes the best work/study environment for students, faculty, and staff.

Participate in rotating on-call schedule (When on-call, employee may be deemed essential during University closings).

May be required to temporarily perform other duties or work other shifts as assigned.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of electrical equipment and systems, practices and code compliance.

High level of electrician skills to include use of hand and power tools, conduit benders, meters, testers, recording devices, circuit tracers, and ladders.

Ability to read and work from blueprints.

Ability to do basic diagnosis, service and repair to various types of electrical equipment.

Moderate computer skills.

Driver's license.

Conditions of Employment:
