National Grid Ventures is hiring a Lead Analyst, Transmission Development. The position is hybrid and can sit in Boston, MA or Waltham, MA

Job Purpose

Support NGV US NE Transmission Development team, providing research, insight, and analysis of renewable market developments with a focus on competitive onshore and offshore transmission opportunities and partnerships through Joint Ventures in the U.S.Northeast.

The lead analyst will focus on competitor analysis, market/policy research, and energy market analysis to support project valuation, strategic decision making, and risk evaluation associated with competitive transmission opportunities. The overall goal of this team-oriented role will be to enhance the company's ability to develop and commercialize competitive energy projects in the U.S. Northeast to meet company energy transition objectives. The current focus is the development of National Grid's Transmission project(s) in the NYISO, PJM and ISO NE, and could expand to other RTOs.

To identify and explore new business opportunities, and develop, negotiate and procure services contract, ensuring the necessary services and products are available to meet objectives.

Key Accountabilities

* Monitor competitive landscape for industry and market developments, advising on risks and opportunities for expansion; contribute to strategic planning and positioning in light of evolving competitive transmission opportunities
* Support the development of competitive transmission bid proposals into ISO solicitations, including the evaluation of solicitation criteria, and cross-workstream coordination
* Lead reviewing, compiling and organizing critical business documents and materials for Request for Proposals' submission
* Gather market intelligence to gain insights on competitor projects and support relevant teams in business case analysis, risk evaluation and investment decision making
* Plan priority research and development areas with relevant teams and identify and prioritize key stakeholder groups and individuals according to the project development phase
* Develop deep knowledge on the US competitive transmission market context and contribute to the development of the NGV value proposition and business model options in evolving markets
* Contribute to executive level presentations materials on market analysis, development opportunities and business case recommendation
* Carry out tasks as described above in specific designated roles as part of Joint Venture project organizations, In such roles, reports to applicable, workstream / project manager of the respective assignment(s).

Qualifications

* Minimum: Bachelor's degree and at least 5-7 years of relevant experience; advanced post graduate degree preferred
* Detail-oriented, proactive, quantitative & analytical skills, collaborates to find solutions,and follows a problem through to the end.
* Experience working with or in the power sector or strategy projects in a consulting or corporate work environment a plus;
* Ability to translate data, competitive intelligence, and model outputs into business insight & articulate impact of results on the business;
* Advanced writing/power point story-telling / communication skills a plus;
* Some knowledge of US power industry structures, policies, regulations & market fundamentals, including FERC Order 1000 and ISO Tariffs
* Familiarity with recent trends in transmission development, renewable generation, offshore wind, and energy storage.
* Familiarity with project development (ex. permitting, staffing, scheduling, estimating, etc.)

Salary

New England $127,000 - $149,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
