KFON Intern

Definition

Under direct supervision, assists in support services for the City's cable access programs, and audiovisual systems, and performs a variety of semi-technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility to obtain work experience and training in video production. The work schedule will NOT exceed 20 hours per week.
Position Snapshot/A Day in the Life: Intern with our KFON Channel 3 production team and get a wealth of experience in the production, broadcast, and media space. Our KFON Interns will be involved in the use and set up of production equipment, learn basic video editing, support public meetings and events, and be able to create their professional reel.

Essential Functions

The incumbent must have the ability to:
  • Assist in the setup of TV productions which include audio video equipment and scenes.
  • Assist with equipment inventory and management.
  • Participate in the creative process of story planning and development for KFON community programming.
  • Operate camera and audio equipment in support of city events and public meetings.
  • Train and work constructively with staff on editing and script development.
  • Be punctual and responsible in the performance of assigned duties; flexibility concerning hours and working on short notice.
  • Remain current on knowledge concerning relevant video and audio equipment and/or video production.
  • Demonstrate skill in using Adobe Premier and Photoshop.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Perform any other tasks or functions deemed necessary to the daily operations of the employer.

Working Conditions: Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, and bending; the ability to push, pull, drag and/or lift up to 25 pounds; normal manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination; repetitive hand movement using a computer keyboard and mouse; corrected vision to normal range; acute hearing; written and oral communication; use of standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, printers, and copiers; frequent contact with other staff.

Experience and Training Guidelines

Knowledge should be appropriate to the level of study of the theory and principles of the relevant subject, and the goals and functions of the department. The Intern should possess the ability to reason logically and draw sound conclusions.

Education: Candidates must be enrolled an undergraduate student program in the field of TV Production, Media, Film, Communications, or other related area.

Transcripts/proof of enrollment must be submitted with the employment application.



Supplemental Information

Candidates must be able to pass a Police Background Investigation, Pre-employment Physical, Psychological, and Polygraph Examinations.




This position is part-time, at-will, without benefits, unless required by law.
