Interface Engineer III

Interface Engineer (Implementation) - EMR (Electronic Medical Records) supports the delivery of innovative products that allow patients to make life-changing decisions. Myriad Genetics, Inc. is a genetic screening and testing company that provides actionable information to empower people to make critical and timely healthcare decisions. As a technical resource for the Interface Engineering team, the Interface Engineer works on complex technical problems of diverse scope. While focused directly on EMR-related work, they remain aware of broader technical and workflow needs, and how they relate to EMR-based solutions.

Responsibility

1. Manage onboarding and continuing technical support for multiple projects with high levels of complexity to automate receiving electronic orders and sending electronic results.
2. Perform preliminary assessment of new data sources. Assist clients and project managers with estimating our level of effort and refining the project scope to identify requirements and tasks.
3. Lead development, testing and support for networking and interoperability solutions between Myriad and external clinics and providers.
4. Familiarity with core programming concepts and tools, including source control, dev environment management, code merges and deploys.
5. Be technical lead and advocate for best practices and improvements to interface implementations and data transformations.
6. Provide training and ongoing technical support to non-technical teammates.
7. Use effective written and verbal communication to navigate difficult client conversations with a professional demeanor.
8. Create detailed documentation for projects, to allow for a clean hand-off to our support teams.

1. Bachelor's degree required.
2. Expert knowledge in HL7 (V2.x), ability to read specifications for other industry standards like HL7 v3 (C-CDA), FHIR (r4), IHE ITI, or EDI X12 (Claims).
3. Expert in Mirth, including JavaScript or other common interface engines, and able to lead efforts to administer, setup, maintain and automate interfaces.
4. Understand network protocols, connectivity types and how to design interoperability solutions securely.
5. Intermediate level in SQL and must be comfortable writing queries with complex joins, limited to querying and reporting.
6. Software engineering fundamentals for web based and cloud-based applications.
7. Ability to investigate and troubleshoot production issues on multiple platforms.
8. Python and/or software development knowledge is a bonus.
9. Exposure to Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) concepts and processes.
10. Active Advanced Mirth Certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

Lifting Requirements - light work or exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical Requirements - stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, pushing or pulling, and reaching. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.
