Sr. Director, Marketing & Communications

The Sr. Director, Marketing & Communications is responsible for synthesizing the strategy and vision to create a brand internally and externally. This role will be accountable for being a subject matter expert on Cell, Gene and Advance therapies and as such will be show a deep understanding of the healthcare industry, customer pain points and trends to inform growth strategies. This role will require comfort in ambiguity and an always-changing market dynamic. The Sr. Director will need to leverage marketing expertise to challenge the status quo and drive innovation while partnering effectively with key stakeholders across the Organization.

Key Responsibilities

Brand Positioning, Marketing Strategies and Tactics

  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with business objectives for cell, gene, and advanced therapies.
  • Establish and maintain a strong brand presence, ensuring alignment with corporate values and market positioning.
  • Oversee and manage marketing and communications agency work and deliverables as well budgets to achieve maximin impact and ROI.
  • Share value proposition with differentiation with internal stakeholders through effective storytelling and marketing campaigns.
  • Ensure customer knowledge, data and insights translate into actionable initiatives to support customer acquisition.
  • Responsible for leveraging our key differentiation as an integrated value offer in the core business with multiple stakeholders Biopharma, Payors, and Providers.
  • Develop and implement multi-channel marketing campaigns to reach target customers effectively, utilizing digital, traditional, and other relevant channels.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to inform marketing strategies and enhance positioning.

Product Launches

  • Lead and drive GTM material activity and creation of promotional material including market research and synthesize vision/strategy to create a brand for core and future growth vectors for the CGAT COE with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work closely with other McKesson departments to ensure seamless integration of marketing initiatives across the organization.
  • Work closely with Product development to ensure the successful launch of new services or solutions.
  • Uses data and analytics to measure the effectiveness of marketing initiatives, providing insights for continuous improvement.

Key Opinion Leaders (KOL)/Stakeholder Engagement

  • Thought leadership development in conjunction with McKesson leaders and Industry experts to publish written and digital content.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Business and Marketing partners, including understanding their goals and challenges with the goal to drive collaboration and a solutions driven approach.
  • Cultivate relationships with KOLs and thought leaders in the field to build credibility and drive product advocacy.
  • Attend conferences and key external meetings to build brand awareness. Responsible for conference activity and planning and COE presence and coordination of marketing and sales activity.

Customer Education

  • Develop educational materials for healthcare professionals, patients, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to ensure understanding and adoption.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 13+ years Marketing experience; healthcare industry experience
  • 6+ years of diverse leadership/management experience in the healthcare segment and in marketing and/or strategy divisions
  • 4-year degree in Marketing, Business or related field or equivalent experience (MBA preferred)

Specialized Knowledge/Skills

  • 5+ years experience in cell, gene, and advanced therapies market. Must have solid understanding of the industry and clinical principles in this space.
  • 8+ years' experience developing business-to-business market strategies and marketing plans and executing activities that support achievement of revenue and gross margin goals
  • Solid understanding of primary and secondary research and good understanding of data analytics
  • Excellent communicator
  • People-savvy collaborator with the confidence to manage stakeholders and the polish to routinely interact and influence an executive-level audience

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Enjoy the challenge of handling shifting priorities and meeting aggressive deadlines in a fast-paced marketing environment while constantly striving for excellence
  • Strong critical thinking, analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail, solid organizational skills and proactive project management
  • Ability to act independently with sound business judgement
  • Ability to serve as an inclusive leader who motivates, coaches and develops their team
  • Prefer previous experience building a marketing team
  • Vendor sourcing and management experience
  • Knowledge of company products and services

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position $150,200 - $250,300
