Job Announcement

This position provides coordination, organization, scheduling and implementation of RCC programming for participants that range in age from infancy to older adults in offsite community locations. Works requires communication with agency staff, partners, vendors and the public. Work is performed independently with general supervision from the Community Events and Equity Partnerships Directors.

Schedule: Evening and weekend work will be required.


Illustrative Duties

General Duties
Hires, trains, supervises, schedules, and evaluates staff;
Plans, schedules, and conducts specialized on-site staff training;
Completes and submits various financial, administrative, and statistical reports;
Identifies, recommends, and writes justifications for budget components such as capital equipment submissions;
Adheres to revenue and expense limits, goals, and guidelines for specialized areas of supervision;
Authorizes purchase requests and invoices for payment;
Inspects facilities and grounds for safety hazards and operational deficiencies, recommends improvements, and initiates corrective measures;
Responds to public inquiries and concerns;
Analyzes and evaluates service in terms of individual and community needs.


Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of the principles and practices of recreation center and /or park management;
Knowledge of fiscal record keeping and inventory procedures;
Ability to use a personal computer, applicable software and peripheral equipment;
Ability to direct and coordinate the work of subordinate staff and volunteers;
Ability to maintain effective relationships with employees and citizen groups;
Ability to prepare a variety of administrative reports;
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.


Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from an accredited two-year college or university with an associate degree in recreation, park management, therapeutic recreation, or a closely related field; plus two years of related experience in recreation center, park, athletic field, golf course operations, or community-based program coordination or a related field, as applicable to the position.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:

  • Valid driver's license (required at the time of application)
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation-CPR (Required within 12 months and recertification every 24 months)

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • The appointee to the position will be required to complete the following to the satisfaction of the employer:
    • Criminal Background Investigation
    • Child Protective Services Registry Check
    • Driving Record Check

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation-CPR certification is preferred.
  • At least four years of professional experience in purchasing, personnel, event logistics, event planning, and/or stage management.
  • Experience working with artists/performers, which may include Professional touring artists, community groups, student groups, and special needs groups.
  • Experience supervising professional technicians, college and/or high school students, or volunteers over age 15.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and in the areas of purchasing/requisitioning tools, inventory management, and project management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to be physically active for three hours at a time.
  • Employee will be required to do walking, standing, bending, and carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Eyesight should be correctable to 20/20 to read data on a computer monitor.
  • All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
