Salary range:

A reasonable full-time salary range for this position is $83,935-$186,446. Starting salary will be commensurate with highest degree, past college-level teaching experience, relevant industry experience and equity within the department.

11% - 100%
Anticipated start:
Summer, July 1; Fall semester, August 1; Spring semester, Jan 1.

Position description

The Interdisciplinary Social Sciences Program (ISSP) is the administrative unit that oversees the interdisciplinary majors, minors and graduate programs within the Social Sciences Division of the College of Letters and Sciences at UC Berkeley.

Housed in ISSP, the Master of Computational Social Science (MaCSS) is a new one-year professional master's program that will provide students with practical skills for analyzing, interpreting, and visualizing social data. Social data are data about people, groups, organizations, and their interactions from surveys and censuses, company websites, store loyalty cards, cell-phone records, social media posts, internet searches, etc. MaCSS graduates will be able to work as analysts and data specialists in business, non-profit, and government settings.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION: Teaching one or more of the following courses:

* Introduction to Computing;

* Introduction to Applied Statistics;

* Advanced Computing;

* Applied Statistics;

* Ethics, Data, & Society;

* Special topics in Computational Social Science;

* Career Development;

* Capstone Project

In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties may include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g. syllabus), writing exams, interacting with students outside of class time via email and/or a course web site, and managing teaching assistants.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent international degree is required at time of application.

Preferred qualifications

-Prior teaching and/or work experience in computational social science, data science, computing, data analytics, or human resources.

-Leadership, management, and entrepreneurial skills

-Existing authorization to work in the U.S.
