The Camera Semiconductor Technologies group is responsible for all research, design, development, test, and qualification of core technologies that enables revolutionary features on Apple products, such as Face ID and LiDAR Scanner. As a key member of our photonic design team, you will play a crucial role in the delivering the best user experiences with our next generation semiconductor devices!

Key Qualifications

  • Demonstrated work experience in one or few of the following areas: laser, optics, device physics, metastructures.
  • Proficiency in optical simulation with commercially available simulation tools (e.g., Lumerical FDTD, Zemax, LightTools, Sentaurus, etc.) and/or customed solutions based on general programming languages (e.g., Python, Matlab or C).
  • Demonstrated capability to collaborate with international teams and suppliers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • A strong team player, and innovative thinker.
  • Experience designing lasers or silicon photonics is a big plus.
  • Experience working with foundry is a plus.
  • Experience with inverse design is a plus.


Description

- Lead the development effort of advance photonic devices and systems, feeding into Apple product roadmap. - Develop multi-physics model for numerical optimization of advanced structures. - HW prototyping and proof-of-concept validation by building lab set-ups. - Regular presentation to internal x-functional team and senior management from NPI phase to mass production. - Contribute to core technology IP development.

Education & Experience

BS degree and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.

Additional Requirements

  • - Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Process Engineering, Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering to deliver state-of-the-art solutions.
  • - 5~10% international travel expected.


Pay & Benefits

    At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $138,900.00 and $256,500.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
