The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Pay Range: $59,900.00 - $89,900.00

Job Overview:

Student learning is the primary responsibility of Western Governors University (WGU) faculty. Instructorsare subject matter experts who teach and mentor students when students engage in theirassigned courses. Instructorsvary the type, length, and intensity of instructional method based upon student needs. Instructorswork on a team tosupport an assigned group of students and offer specialized instruction on challenging topics. Using applicable technology, Instructorsinteract with students in both group and one-on-one settings. As part of WGU's disaggregated faculty model, Instructorsprovide their expertise and collaborate with the facultywhoare responsible for developing and evaluating courses and assessments.

Position Qualifications:

* Doctorate degree in education from an accredited institution in a related field

* Three years student support and instruction in the K-12 classroom

* Demonstrated ability to work with at-risk learners

* SPED classroom/teaching experience or equivalency preferred

Other Qualifications:

* Separate qualifications and/or licensure/certifications may be required for some degree programs.

* State and/or federal legislative requirements and/or college accreditation requirements may apply to maintain the necessary credentialing for this role.

Knowledge and Abilities:

* Must be well organized, conscientious and thorough with detail.

* Possess technologicalcompetency, as data entry, emails,calendars,word processing, and databaseprograms.

* Maintain extraordinary customer service and communication skills with a friendly and persuasive speaking and writing style.

* Demonstrate stronginterpersonaland written communicationskills, with an ability to present information clearly, concisely, and accurately.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

* Acts as a steward for carrying out WGU's mission and strategic vision.

* Demonstrates a high level of commitment effectively and consistently.

* Provides expertise in assigned content area and maintains current knowledge in the field.

* Fosters student learning through innovative teaching practices.

* Offers proactive support and outreach to assigned students.

* Uses technology-based teaching and communication platforms to aid students in the development of competencies.

* Communicates professionally and respectfully with students and all other members of the WGU community.

* Collaborates with other professionals within the university to promote a positive, student-obsessed atmosphere.

* Respondswith urgencyto students needs and changing requirements, priorities, and short deadlines.

* Participates and or leads training activities.

* Consistently exhibits WGU Leadership Principles.

Working Conditions:

*Maintains the ability to keep an assigned schedule for 40 hours/week (may be higher at peak times) to cover a student friendly window blocks to include weekdays/4pm+ and weekends.

*Arranges a set schedule with the supervisor, which is normally not flexible, based on the needs of WGU and its students.

* Works primarily from home in the continental U.S. and is available to travel to meetings on a few possible occasions if/when required.
