HR Business Partner/Supervisor

Overview:

The HR Business Partner (HRBP)/Supervisor performs human resources related duties at the professional level and supervises the functional areas of recruiting, onboarding, employee records, and employee relations functions as assigned. The HRBP primarily supports managers and employees on the east coast and overseas. This position requires an extremely perceptive person with the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels within the organization. The HRBP/ Supervisor position is associated with the Olgoonik Fairfax, Virginia office.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Advises managers, collaborating and building partnerships to identify talent needs and gain a clear view of their hiring needs and organizational goals.
  • Manages recruiting and onboarding processes in area of assignment, communicating, and advising on best practices to streamline processes, solve problems and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborates with other team members in execution of talent acquisition strategies.
  • Markets open positions via the company's career page, job boards and social media platforms and networking databases as needed to fill vacancies.
  • Engages with active and passive talent and connects them to current job opportunities, executing recruitment strategies that produce a diverse slate of candidates, evaluating applicants and submitting qualified candidates for hiring manager review.
  • Responds to candidate inquiries and communicates with candidates/new hires (phone and email) throughout recruitment and employment offer processes.
  • Collaborates to ensure the recruiting function is compliant with all applicable regulations: AAP, OFCCP, EEO, etc.
  • Advises managers regarding employee performance counseling, assisting with the drafting of performance counseling documents as needed. Manages the investigation and response for minor complaints/grievances. Supports and assists HR management with higher-level complaints/grievances.
  • Advises managers and supervisors of state and federal regulations, company policies, and effective human resources practices as needed.
  • Collaborates with HRBPs in routine internal quality audits on HR workflows and documentation and identifies breakdown in data and advises HR management.
  • Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs.
  • Exhibits a strong focus on customer service and continuous process improvement activities in relation to the day-to-day operations in areas of responsibility to ensure process effectiveness.
  • Develops job descriptions with FLSA analysis and maintains company job descriptions in collaboration with managers, HRBPs and in line with HR procedures.
  • Collaborates as needed with HRBPs regarding employee onboarding processes, to ensure a consistent application of HR processes across the HR team.
  • Collaborates to ensure the maintenance of employee records and electronic employment data.
  • Maintains control documents, forms, policies, and work instructions. Proposes improvements to policies, programs, and procedures to improve the effectiveness of human resources.
  • Provides guidance to employees and management regarding interpretation of personnel policies, programs and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; periodically audits I-9 forms as assigned.
  • Collaborates with HRBPs to provide necessary backup for other HR staff members and to provide optimal HR support to internal and external customers.
  • Collaborates to ensure that personnel functions conform to all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborates on HR projects related to staffing & onboarding.
  • Trains HR staff on usage of software applications, workflows, and policies as needed.
  • Organizes teambuilding events for the Fairfax office as assigned, such as holiday celebrations, quarterly meetings, and annual picnic.
  • Supports delivery of training through content review and development as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • This position will be responsible for supervising and directing the work of assigned staff.


Education and/or Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management or a related field, or equivalent education, training and experience.
  • 5 years of progressively responsible general HR experience is required, of which includes 2 years of Talent Acquisition experience.
  • 3 years of HR support in government contracting is preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Must have strong understanding of all aspects of human resources and how different functions interact including benefits and compensation, staffing and recruiting, and organizational structures and development.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of human resource management.
  • Ability to develop long-term plans and programs and to evaluate work accomplishments.


  • Ability to apply and adapt practices and techniques to the special requirements of senior management.


  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other management staff, employees, and the general public.


  • Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.


  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Suite of products including, Word, Excel, Access and E-mail business software.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, and an ability to manage multiple complex projects at one time.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:



  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
