Overview

Great opportunity! Gilbane Development Company is seeking a bright, eager candidate to support its New York, NY Affordable / Mixed-Income Development team during the summer of 2024. This Real Estate Development Intern will focus on the following handful of core responsibilities (primarily related to affordable and mixed-income multifamily housing), though will be meaningfully involved with several ancillary tasks accretive to the overall internship experience.


Responsibilities

- Assist the development team with due diligence tasks related to project-specific underwriting and the overall development process
- Conduct research on new pertinent funding sources and public policies
- Update market summaries for targeted development areas, identifying details of new deals coming to the market
- Support deal flow, assisting with preparation for (and attending) weekly deal committee meetings
- Support development managers as needed


Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
- Undergraduate or graduate student concentrating in Real Estate, Urban Planning, Urban Studies, or a related major
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Eagerness to learn affordable and mixed-income housing deal and financial structures
- Competence/experience in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Willingness to assist in all areas of specific responsibilities as noted herein
- Excellent command of the English language, written and oral
- Strong interpersonal skills (while collaborating with a diverse group of individuals)
- Superior attention to detail and organizational abilities
Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
For New York City the pay ranges from $20 - $27 per hour.
