HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION
The Senior Social Media Manager is responsible for developing and growing San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance's reach on social media and assessing the work's effectiveness and outcomes. This position reports to the Vice President of Communications.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Oversee Social Media Team including, but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, training and performance management.
• Lead Marketing team in development, execution, optimization, and reporting of full multichannel social media campaigns to meet business goals.
• Manage social media accounts and generate creative, original content on various platforms including analyzing metrics to optimize SDZWA social media spend.
• Manage editorial calendars and outline monthly content plan including event promotions, staff highlights, wildlife days, etc.
• Monitor and lead team in responding to guest comments, reviews and messages in a timely manner, determined by industry and customer service best practices.
• Create, monitor and optimize paid social media initiatives with Digital Advertising Agency, using strategic targeting and budgeting practices to maximize impact and minimize cost.
• Coordinate photoshoots and video filming segments for turnkey social media opportunities, and long tail marketing campaigns.
• Work with partnership to develop on-brand cross-promotions with key partners.
• Manage executive social media agency, ensuring content and language aligns with brand.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
JOB EXPERIENCE

• 4+ years of direct experience in social media or equivalent experience.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Strategies or related field required.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• High level of knowledge of social media channels and trends.
• Knowledge of photography and/or videography methods and trends.
• Able to produce creative content for on-line channels.
• Knowledge of publishing strategies.
• Knowledge of social media analytics and current trends.
• Able to operate moderately complex computer software programs.
• Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Able to handle complex situations some of which will require a high level of tact and diplomacy.
• Able to negotiate effectively and prepare presentations.
• Able to operate photoshop, iMovie and other relevant production programs.
• Knowledge of new social media tools, best practices, competitive activity and other social media leaders to bring early adopter technologies and industry trend.
• Must have a deep interest in the SDZWA mission and excitement for the brand.
• Must possess passion about conservation and a desire to tell the stories of our incredible teams across the globe, as well an interest in social and digital trends.
• Solid experience managing high-profile social accounts and a passion for the ever changing landscape of the internet.
• Proven track record of crafting and maintaining a consistent social voice.
• Ability to apply an audience-first lens to editorial strategy and content production.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction in a fast-paced environment. Is flexible, collaborative, and deadline driven.
• Strong writing skills and ability to write accurately, quickly; prior copywriting experience a plus.
• Experience maintaining an editorial calendar.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task projects, priorities, schedules, and deliverables.
