Purpose

Reporting to our Regional Finance Director NOAM, generate tax saving ideas to minimize the corporate tax liability. Manage tax accounting and tax return preparation to insure accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance. Manage the local Tax team.

Core Responsibilities

Team Management



  • Manage and ensure appropriate local organisation and staffing, including job descriptions and back-up solutions while also maintaining and developing skills and competencies of Tax Department staff


Tax Accounting



  • Manage the tax accounting functions to establish the accuracy of the related financial information. This includes managing the IFRS and statutory income tax provisions, effective tax rate analysis and account reconciliations. In addition, the tax accounting function includes footnote disclosures, annual budget reporting, and audit coordination


Financial Reporting



  • Manage the tax reporting responsibilities to ensure that Corporate Reporting receives the required information on a timely basis. As needed, initiate discussions with Corporate Reporting to guarantee the integrity of the tax information


Tax Returns



  • Manage the preparation of the federal income tax returns. Focus on 1) the accuracy of the information based on current tax laws and 2) minimizing the current payable via the acceleration of tax credits and deductions. Federal income tax compliance includes the preparation of required statements and elections to be incorporated with the return
  • Manage the preparation of state, local and provincial income tax returns, personal property tax returns, real estate tax assessments, GST/HST and use tax returns, and other required filings


Tax Audit and Planning



  • Manage corporate income tax, sales and use tax and personal property tax audits. Provide documentation to support as-filed positions, and address issues raised during the audit
  • Initiate tax planning and research to minimize the overall tax liability



You will:



  • manage 3rd party tax compliance service providers and review of tax returns (Federal &relevant States), monthly provision and indirect tax filings
  • be responsible for local Direct and Indirect tax compliance
  • ensureaccuracy of Month-end Close - Entries, Acct Recs, etc
  • obtainAdhoc tax advice on (i)various tax scenarios that require planning and resulting in subsquent action/internal projects
  • be abreast of local tax law changes and be able to Identify tax optimization opportunities inside the organization
  • be the Local point of contact for bilateral APA managed by Group Tax
  • coordinate for R&D filing process
  • have Local liaisonfor international tax, tax accounting, external audit, SSC & transfer pricingrequestsfrom Swiss headquarters
  • raiseawareness of tax related topics inside the US organization including trainings
  • Workwith Group Tax and Group Treasury on tax implications of structuring of financial transactions, cash repatriation strategies, funding & liquidity projects
  • have Localliaisonfor strategic projects, restructuring, M&A due-diligence and tax optimization initiatives driven by Group Tax



Academic Background



  • Bachelor degree with a major in Accounting
  • Professional accountancy qualification and/or an advance degree in accounting or tax is a plus



Professional Experience



  • 7-10 years of experience in corporate tax accounting and compliance



Skills



  • Can do attitude and the ability to go the extra mile to find and deploy solutions
  • Ability and experience to work with large cross organizational and cross geographical teams
  • Experience to manage a small team
  • Techincal base and experience in Direct and Indirect tax and Tax accounting
  • Fluency in MS Office software including Excel, Word, Access, Lotus Notes, and corporate tax base software
  • Adequate tax accounting and tax compliance knowledge
  • The individual must be able

    • 1) communicate effectively with internal and external customers
    • 2) organise and manage numerous priorities,
    • 3) function with others across all non-tax departments
    • 4) work with minimal supervision
