Overview

This is your chance to gain real-time experience in communications while finishing your degree! Our Communications Internship has been developed to help you shape your career in PR and communications.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time summer internship, starting May/June 2024, working 30+ hours per week with the option of working 10 to 15 hours a week during the fall and spring semesters.

Location: This position will be remote, working out of our Madison, WI office. The selected candidate will need to be within a 2-hour commuting distance to Madison, WI to drive into the office for events, team functions, and group projects.

Pay: The base pay rate offered for this position is expected to be $17/hour.

Responsibilities

As a Communications Intern at TDS Telecom, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Build your portfolio writing for multi-media formats (e.g., blogs, internal and external stories about TDS associates, and social media)
  • Work directly on TDS Telecom Communications initiatives and gain hands-on experience in a variety of PR areas
  • Join a network of interns as part of TDS' Intern Associate Resource Group, with opportunities for leadership
  • Contribute social media content, maintenance and strategies for various properties including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter
  • Learn from professionals in other TDS departments


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ semesters in the study of PR, Marketing, News Media, or Communications.

Other Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of AP Style.
  • Excellent computer skills and social media savvy.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Canva.
  • 1+ years computer experience.

Benefits

Associates scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week have access to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off benefits such as vacation (15 days accrued per year for full-time; pro-rated for part-time associates working between 20-39 hours), sick leave (10 days accrued per year for full-time and pro-rated for all other associates), seven paid national holidays and one floating holiday, paid parental leave (2 weeks after 12 months of employment), among others. Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability coverage is also available for associates working 30 or more hours per week and Education Assistance is available to full-time associates. Associates scheduled to work under twenty hours per week or for a limited term (i.e. interns) are eligible for medical coverage, the 401(k) plan (if 18 or older), as well as sick leave (10 days accrued per year for full-time and pro-rated for all other associates).
