The Department of Grain Science and Industry is seeking an experienced Office Specialist III, who, without direct supervision, performs a wide variety of administrative and program support for the department. This position will also be the Assistant Graduate Program Coordinator, helping both domestic and international students with graduate student applications and the liaison between the Graduate School and department. Finally, this position will also serve as the coordinator or departmental communications and providing general support to the faculty and staff of the Grain Science and Industry Department. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: - Provide administrative support to the Department Head and serve as the liaison between the Department Head, university administrators, government officials, industry representatives, company executives, advisory group members, unclassified and classified personnel, and students. - Assist in facilitation of faculty promotion and tenure process as well as the annual review process. - Prepare correspondence, faculty evaluations, travel schedules, reimbursement requests, and other confidential documents for Department Head (including research and other staff s/he supervises) in accordance with established policies and procedures. - Maintain databases of faculty information including, but not limited to, current faculty CVs, current faculty, staff and student awards received, presentations made, and publications. Be able to provide reports when requested of current department information. - Serve as primary contact with the Graduate School, acting as the liaison between department and Graduate School - Maintain graduate student database, keeping information up-to-date and accurate. - Coordinate special and annual events and projects as requested by the Department Head and faculty - Oversee departmental communications, including, but not limited to department newsletters, stakeholder reports, and department website oversight.
